A high-ranking Cambodian government official is looking for a resolution with Vietnam so that Khmer Krom people living in Vietnam could watch Khmer-language TV stations. Khieu Kanharith, minister of Information and government spokesman, told RFA on 02 April: “In the past, a lot of people said that Khmer Kampuchea Krom people are not allowed to watch Khmer TV stations, in fact, it is not true, because to able to watch Khmer TVs, they need satellite system. In their country (Vietnam), you are not allowed to install satellite dish unless the government installs them for you, that’s all. Right now, Vietnam is working with a French satellite company, like Decho TV for us. Therefore, we are talking with them to include Khmer TVs in their programming. At that time, we will get them.” However, up to now, the Viet reply to this request by Cambodia is not known yet.
