abs-cbnNEWS.comMANILA - The Philippines and Cambodia have signed their first air services agreement on Wednesday, fielding a total of 35 weekly flights.
The new air deal allowed 7 flights a week for the Manila-Cambodia route, 14 weekly flights for the Clark-Cambodia route, and 14 weekly flights to Cambodia from any point in the Philippines excluding Manila and Clark.
This is the tenth agreement that the Philippines has concluded for the year. The country has already sealed air deals with the United Kingdom, Singapore, Spain, Brunei, Australia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates since the start of 2009.
For the coming months, the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) is expecting to conduct bilateral negotiations with Turkey, China, Russia, Italy, Korea, and Iceland to amend the country's existing air deals.
"We hope to seal more agreements with various countries this year. We have lined up a number of countries and we are just waiting for a confirmation of the schedule," Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) Executive Director Carmelo Arcilla said.
In the past, the Philippines has clinched agreements with Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Macau, Canada, Finland, Iran, and the Netherlands.
